Public media leaders are invited to join Paragon for an exclusive screening and discussion of Join or Die. This documentary explores the half-century decline of American civic institutions and community connections as noted in the research of Harvard professor Robert Putnam, renowned for his 1995 essay, “Bowling Alone.”
What makes democracy work? Why is American democracy in crisis? What can we do about it? And what role can public media play in this? These are the critical questions Paragon aims to address in its discussion of Join or Die, which will be available for screening on the following dates:
- Friday, August 16 through Sunday, August 18
- Friday, August 23 through Sunday, August 25
Following the screenings, Paragon will host a virtual panel discussion on Wednesday, August 28, at 2 PM ET. The panel will delve into the film’s relevance to our communities, democracy, and the public media system, featuring insights from:
